TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! NEVER Drove their car At pickup, did not want Kia Forte (due to nationwide theft rate) They tried to upcharge me for a smaller car THEN accused me of purposely knocking down plexiglass at counter Awaiting my credit card invoice to insure I was not charged Lastly, billed $250 security charge I've been renting cars for 40 years and NEVER charged a security fee WILL NEVER GO BACK

This was my first experience with Payless. I chose to rent from them because their prices were marginally better than the more mainstream companies and I thought “how bad can it be”? The intermediate car I rented was a Nissan versa. I don’t know what year the car was, but it had almost 90K miles on it. It stunk inside and the upholstery was dirty. It made an odd noise while running and accelerating, and I didn’t realize that cars with roll-down windows and manual locks were still an option. The single usb port for charging did not work and the key didn’t work on the passenger door. I felt like I was borrowing a beater from a poor college kid. The slightly lower rental cost was in no way proportional to the downgrade in quality of vehicle when compared to the mainstream companies. I gave Payless a chance, but never again.

I frequently travel and rent cars often, this was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had. Nathan, the person who checked us in was extremely rude and even though I told/showed him I would like to use my own insurance tried to charge us extra for it. He also tried to embarrass me in front of my fiancé but saying “are you sure you do t want to upgrade? You going to make her ride in the Mr Bean car?” Suggesting that it was small and outdated - which it was. The first car we got had a fan belt break as we were leaving and had to return. The second was dirty and many thing like usb ports and even the electric seat didn’t not work. Also had a check engine light on. 0/10
